چکیده

Abstract We present measurements of [Ne iii ] λ 3869 emission in z ∼ 1 low-mass galaxies taken from the Keck/DEIMOS spectroscopic surveys HALO7D and DEEPwinds. identify 167 individual with significant lines, including 112 “dwarf” log ( M ⋆ stretchy="true">/ ⊙ stretchy="false">) < 9.5 , 0.3 < 1.4. also measure composite spectra derived all [O ii λλ 3727,3729 line emitters this range. This provides a unique sample between well-studied at = 0 2 3. To study evolution ionization conditions interstellar medium (ISM) over time, we analyze log([Ne 3869/[O 3727,3729) ratio (Ne3O2) as function stellar mass log([O 4959,5007/[O (O32). find that typical star-forming dwarf galaxy redshift, measured spectra, shares Ne3O2– M ⋆ relation local but has higher O32 given Ne3O2. finding implies metallicity characteristics population do not evolve substantially to 0, suggesting known those parameters largely place by 1. Individual ]-detected have situated galaxies, elevated Ne3O2 potentially explained variations nebular metallicity. compare our similarly > 7 identified JWST Early Release Observations, four dwarfs similar size, metallicity, star formation properties.

The Galaxy Luminosity Function at Z≃1 in the Hudf: Probing the Dwarf Population

We present a catalog of spectro-photometric redshifts for 1308 galaxies from the GRism ACS Program for Extragalactic Science (GRAPES) observations with the Hubble Space Telescope. These low-resolution spectra between 6000 Å and 9500 Å are supplemented with U , J , H , and Ks from various facilities, resulting in redshifts computed with ∼40 spectral bins per galaxy. For 81 galaxies between 0.5< ...

The Z - L relationship of dwarf irregular galaxies

We have revisited the stated relation between the metallicity and the luminosity for nearby dwarf irregular galaxies. A sample based on the absolute magnitude and the radius of the galaxies as observable criteria was selected. New and better distance determinations from the literature were used and the metallicities were recalculated from published spectra. The derived distribution of dwarf gal...

High-Ionization Emission in Metal-Deficient Blue Compact Dwarf Galaxies

Primordial stars are expected to be very massive and hot, producing copious amounts of hard ionizing radiation. The best place to study hard ionizing radiation in the local universe is in very metal-deficient Blue Compact Dwarf (BCD) galaxies. We have carried out a MMT spectroscopic search for [Ne v] λ3426 (ionization potential of 7.1 Ryd), [Fe v] λ4227 (ionization potential of 4 Ryd) and He ii...

Truncation of stellar disks in galaxies at z ≈ 1 ⋆

We report here the first evidence for stellar disk truncation at high redshift, based on surface photometry of a sample of 16 high redshift (0.6 < z < 1.0) disk galaxies from the GOODS HST/ACS data. The radial profiles are best fit by a double exponential profile. This result agrees with the profile of disks in local galaxies. The cosmological surface brightness dimming at this redshift range o...
