The politics of enabling tipping points for sustainable development

چکیده

Achieving most sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the Paris climate targets depends on fast transformation of complex socio-technical systems. Recent research has highlighted importance crossing positive tipping points to accelerate energy, food, transport Yet, there is a lack politics enabling such points. Here, we argue that policy strategies creation are needed. Such should harness political feedbacks from both technological behavioral changes over time. To inform strategies, need better empirical understanding how these unfold, eventually resulting in We propose novel framework structure feedback by linking it three core sustainability principles, namely efficiency, sufficiency, substitution. Our advances ongoing debates about for development. IntroductionThe achievement address urgency manifold crises, recent points.1Otto I.M. Donges J.F. Cremades R. Bhowmik A. Hewitt R.J. Lucht W. The Relationship between Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development from the Social Experts’ Points of View

This research is a survey and exploratory study to present a conceptual model for the sustainable development of Iran based on social entrepreneurship. Its approach for conceptual modeling is based on Path Analysis through Multiple Regression Method. The study has benefited from five questionnaires (four for the Delphi Method’s rounds and another for the conceptual modeling itself). The statist...

Ambiguous Tipping Points∗

We analyze the policy implications of aversion to Knightian uncertainty (or ambiguity) about the possibility of tipping points. We demonstrate two channels through which uncertainty aversion affects optimal policy in the general setting. The first channel relates to the policy’s effect on the probability of tipping, and the second channel to its differential impact in the preand post-tipping re...
