Abstract The desire to reduce gas turbine emissions drives the use of design optimization approaches within combustor process. However, relative cost combustion simulations can prohibit such optimizations from being carried out an industrial setting. Strategies which significantly studies enable designers further improve performance. This paper investigates application a multifidelity surrogate modeling approach typical civil airliner engine. Results over three different case varying problem dimensionality indicate that modeling-based optimization, whereby simulation fidelity is varied by adjusting coarseness mesh, indeed These results has potential while achieving similar, or in some cases superior,
