چکیده

This article describes the open-source C++ code VM2D for simulation of two-dimensional viscous incompressible flows and solving fluid-structure interaction problems. The is based on Viscous Vortex Domains (VVD) method developed by Prof. G. Ya. Dynnikova, where viscosity influence taken into account introducing diffusive velocity. original VVD was supplemented author’s algorithms boundary condition satisfaction, which made it possible to increase accuracy flow near airfoil’s surface line reduce oscillations when calculating hydrodynamic loads. paper aimed primarily at assessing efficiency parallelization algorithm. OpenMP, MPI, Nvidia CUDA parallel programming technologies are used in VM2D, allow performing simulations computer systems various architectures, including those equipped with graphics accelerators. Since belongs particle methods, usage accelerators turns out be quite high. It shown that a real simulation, one card can replace about 80 nodes, each 28 CPU cores. source available GitHub under GNU GPL license.

Level set formulation of two-dimensional Lagrangian vortex detection methods.

We propose here the use of the variational level set methodology to capture Lagrangian vortex boundaries in 2D unsteady velocity fields. This method reformulates earlier approaches that seek material vortex boundaries as extremum solutions of variational problems. We demonstrate the performance of this technique for two different variational formulations built upon different notions of coherenc...

Blending Finite-Difference and Vortex Methods for Incompressible Flow Computations

We describe and illustrate numerical procedures that combine grid and particle solvers for the solution of the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. These procedures include vortex in cell (VIC) and domain decomposition schemes. Numerical comparisons with pure finitedifference methods demonstrate the effectiveness of these techniques for various flow geometries, bounded or unbounded.

A new parallel strategy for two-dimensional incompressible flow simulations using pseudo-spectral methods

A novel parallel technique for Fourier-Galerkin pseudo-spectral methods with applications to two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and inviscid Boussinesq approximation equations is presented. It takes the advantage of the programming structure of the phase-shift de-aliased scheme for pseudo-spectral codes, and combines the task-distribution strategy [Yin, Clercx and Montgomery, Comput. Fluid...

On the evolution of a singular vortex patch in a two-dimensional incompressible fluid flow

The angle evolution of a tangent-slope discontinuity on a singular vortex patch, i.e. a patch of vorticity with tangent discontinuities in its boundary, is studied from a numerical and theoretical point of view. Different numerical examples show that the angle shrinks for an initial angle less than 90◦, the angle widens when the initial angle is greater than 90◦ or is approximately preserved fo...

A Numerical Simulation Study on the Kinetics of Asphaltene Particle Flocculation in a Two-dimensional Shear Flow

In the current study, the kinetics of asphaltene particle flocculation is investigated under a shear flow through numerical simulation. The discrete element method (DEM) is coupled with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to model the agglomeration and fragmentation processes. In addition, a coalescence model is proposed to consider the attachment of colliding particles. The changes in mean asph...
