Yb:CaF2 thin-disk laser.
We present Ytterbium-doped CaF2 as a laser active material with good prospects for high-power operation in thin-disk laser configuration owing to its favorable thermal properties. Thanks to its broad emission bandwidth the material is also suitable for the generation of ultra-short pulses. The properties of the crystal as well as the challenges related to the coating, polishing, mounting and ha...
متن کاملAnalysis of PIV error due to laser light sheet misalignment
The sensitivity and impact of laser light sheet misalignment on Particle Image Velocimetry measurements are investigated in this study using synthetic particle image simulations. Systematically varying the laser sheet overlap between laser pulses reveals the image correlation quality trends and the effect on resulting velocity vector fields. The design of a low-cost laser profiling camera is ou...
متن کاملLaser-induced thermal lens effect: a new theoretical model.
A theoretical model for the laser-induced thermal lens effect in weakly absorbing media is derived. The model predicts the intensity variation in the far field of the laser beam in the presence of the lensing medium and takes into account the aberrant nature of the thermal lens. Some experimental results which support the validity of this approach are presented.
متن کاملSensitivity enhancement of thermal-lens spectrometry using laser-induced precipitation.
The possibility of thermal lensing of dynamically emerging light-absorbing layers at cell surfaces was investigated. Analyte accumulation at a cell surface determines long-term changes in the thermal-lens signal that was used as a source of analytical information to enhance sensitivity of thermal lensing. Considering the rate of accumulation as an additional analytical signal, we achieved a thr...
متن کاملInstability Due to Drug-Induced Vestibulotoxicity.
OBJECTIVE The therapeutic use of ototoxic drugs is relatively common, particularly in patients with severe diseases. It is likely that disturbances of balance in these patients are underestimated by clinicians. MATERIALS AND METHODS The purpose of this study was to identify drugs involved in the vestibulotoxic origin of instability in a group of 18 patients. RESULTS Six patients showed both...
