چکیده

Ultra-fast transmission electron microscopy (UTEM) combines sub-picosecond time-resolution with the versatility of TEM spectroscopies. It allows one to study dynamics materials properties combining complementary techniques. However, until now, time-resolved cathodoluminescence, which is expected give access optical dynamics, was still unavailable in a UTEM. In this paper, we report cathodoluminescence measurements an ultrafast microscope. We measured lifetime maps, 12 nm spatial resolution and sub-nanoseconds resolution, nano-diamonds high density NV center. This paves way new applications UTEM correlative studies optically active nanostructures.

Ultraviolet and blue cathodoluminescence from cubic Y2O3 and Y2O3:Eu3+ generated in a transmission electron microscope

Herein we describe the investigation of cubic spherical submicron particles of non-doped Y2O3 and Y2O3 doped with Eu 3+ in a transmission electron microscope (TEM) equipped with a spectrometer to detect cathodoluminescence from individual particles. Each submicron particle was made up of nanometre sized crystals. We found that these crystals showed a broad emission band at 353 nm upon bombardme...

Ultrafast Time-Resolved Photoelectric Emission.

The emission times of laser-triggered electrons from a sharp tungsten tip are directly characterized under ultrafast, near-infrared laser excitation at Keldysh parameters of 6.6<γ<19.1. Emission delays up to 10 fs are observed, which are inferred from the energy gain of photoelectrons emitted into a synchronously driven microwave cavity. Few femtosecond timing resolution is achieved in a config...

Role of electron-electron interference in ultrafast time-resolved imaging of electronic wavepackets.

Ultrafast time-resolved x-ray scattering is an emerging approach to image the dynamical evolution of the electronic charge distribution during complex chemical and biological processes in real-space and real-time. Recently, the differences between semiclassical and quantum-electrodynamical (QED) theory of light-matter interaction for scattering of ultrashort x-ray pulses from the electronic wav...

Approaches for ultrafast imaging of transient materials processes in the transmission electron microscope.

The growing field of ultrafast materials science, aimed at exploring short-lived transient processes in materials on the microsecond to femtosecond timescales, has spawned the development of time-resolved, in situ techniques in electron microscopy capable of capturing these events. This article gives a brief overview of two principal approaches that have emerged in the past decade: the strobosc...
