Toward Adaptive and Scalable Topology in Distributed SDN Controller

The increasing need for automated networking platforms like the Internet of Things, as well network services cloud computing, big data applications, wireless networks, mobile Internet, and virtualization, has driven existing networks to their limitations. Software-defined (SDN) is a new modern programmable architectural technology that allows administrators control entire consistently logically centralized in software-based controllers devices become just simple packet forwarding devices. controller network's brain, mostly based on OpenFlow protocol distinct characteristics vary depending programming language. Its function traffic increase resource efficiency. Therefore, selecting right monitoring performance usage enhance metrics required. For analysis, study proposes an implementation SDN architecture utilizing open-source OpenDaylight (ODL) distributed controller. proposed work evaluates deployment three customized topologies node-to-node such delay, throughput, loss, bandwidth use. experiments are conducted using Mininet emulation tool. Wireshark used collect analyse packets real-time. results obtained from comparison presented provide useful guidelines research initiatives.
