Towards Safer and Smarter Design for Lithium-Ion-Battery-Powered Electric Vehicles: A Comprehensive Review on Control Strategy Architecture of Battery Management System

As the battery provides entire propulsion power in electric vehicles (EVs), utmost importance should be ascribed to management system (BMS) which controls all activities associated with battery. This review article seeks provide readers an overview of prominent BMS subsystems and their influence on vehicle performance, along architectures. Moreover, it collates many recent research critically reviews various control strategies execution topologies implied different aspects BMSs, including modeling, states estimation, cell-balancing, thermal management. The internal architecture a BMS, architectures modules, is examined demonstrate working module. critical models, approaches for state presented terms salient features merits demerits allowing analyze understand them. also throws light modern technologies such as IoT (Internet Things) cloud-based address issues safety. Towards end review, some challenges design development efficient BMSs E-mobility applications are discussed concludes recommendations tackle these challenges.
