Trace-elemental and multi-isotopic (Sr-Nd-Pb) discrimination of jade in the circum-Caribbean: Implications for pre-colonial inter-island exchange networks

چکیده
Dense and strong, hydrothermal-metasomatic jadeitite jadeite-omphacite rocks were used as tools adornments throughout the wider Caribbean since initial inhabitation. Regionally, rich sources of jade are known only in Guatemala (north south Motagua Fault Zone), eastern Cuba northern Dominican Republic, establishing that humans transported jadeitic material over vast distances. This study validates geochemical fingerprinting is a viable provenance method for pre-colonial lithologies. An assemblage 101 source has been characterised trace element combined Sr-Nd-Pb isotope compositions. Four statistical approaches (Principal Component Analysis, t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbour Embedding, Decision Tree, Multiclass Regression) assessed, employing source-distinct ratios. A multiclass regression technique based on ratios immobile high field strength, light to medium rare earth fluid-mobile, large-ion-lithophile elements shown be most effective discriminating four regions. Ninety-one % Guatemalan samples can discriminated from Cuban using La/Th, Zr/Hf Y/Th Jadeitic cropping out Republic distinguished jades Er/Yb, Nb/Ta Ba/Rb with 71% certainty. Furthermore, two sources, north Zone, by (among others) Zr/Hf, Ta/Th, La/Sm Dy/Y an 89% success rate. raises possibility determining, detail, former trading mobility networks between different islands Meso- Central American mainland within Greater Caribbean. Adakite magmatism within the Sabzevar ophiolite zone, NE Iran: U-Pb geochronology and Sr-Nd isotopic evidences
Numerous post-ophiolite intrusions exposed into the late Cretaceous–Paleocene Sabzevar ophiolite belt, northeast Iran. The intrusions consist of calc-alkaline intermediate to felsic rocks with metaluminous to peraluminous in nature and adakitic affinities. Based on U-Th-Pb dating on separated zircons by SHRIMP Ⅱ, the emplacement age of these rocks into the ophiolite zone is constrained to ~45 M...
متن کاملTHE SOURCES OF ISLAND ARCS AS INDICATED BY Nd AND Sr ISOTOPIC STUDIES
Abstmct: Island arc lavas from New Britain and the Marianas have 143 Nd/144 Nd similar to other oceanic basalts and distinctly different from continental flood basalts and thus appear to be derived from a high Sm/Nd, light-REE-depleted reservoir. Consideration of both Nd and Sr isotopes suggests seawater involvement in the generation of some island arc lavas and thus indicates that they may be ...

the study area is located south of ghonabad in eastern iran. this area is situated between two major faults, darouneh to the north and dashtbyaz to the south. the movements of these faults cased major dislocation of this block. najmabad granodiorite to granite batholith is elongated trending east-west 2×8 km2. mineralization is associated with granite and monzonite. alteration zones are: propyl...
متن کاملConstraints on the U-Pb isotopic systematics of Mars inferred from a combined U-Pb, Rb-Sr, and Sm-Nd isotopic study of the Martian meteorite Zagami
Uranium-lead, Rb-Sr, and Sm-Nd isotopic analyses have been performed on the same whole-rock, mineral, and leachate fractions of the basaltic martian meteorite Zagami to better constrain the U-Pb isotopic systematics of martian materials. Although the Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd systems define concordant crystallization ages of 166 6 Ma and 166 12 Ma, respectively, the U-Pb isotopic system is disturbed. Nev...
متن کاملSr, Nd and Pb isotopic variation along the Pacific–Antarctic risecrest, 53–578S: Implications for the composition and dynamics of the South Pacific upper mantle
Sr, Nd and Pb isotope data for basalts from spreading axes and off-axis volcanoes near the Pacific–Antarctic risecrest, from Vacquier transform to just south of Udintsev transform, reveal an isotopically heterogeneous upper mantle. The Ž . isotopic composition of the mantle is represented by three end-members: 1 the ‘depleted’ source of the bulk of Pacific Ž . Ž . normal-type mid-ocean ridge ba...
