Transport and accumulation of microplastics through wastewater treatment sludge processes

چکیده
Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are important routes for releasing microplastics into the environment, with produced sludge acting as a recipient of from wastewater. There is little information on impact processes number in sludge. In this study, presence by Sari WWTP northern Iran was investigated. Samples were taken 3 replications and larger than 37 μm extracted. The primary settling tank, clarifier, after thickener aerobic digester, dewatering contained 214, 206, 200, 238, 129 microplastics/g dry weight, respectively. According to amount each unit, equals 280, 362, 599, 601, 276 million microplastics/day, respectively, which more 85% fibers. numbers output digester did not significantly differ. However, their decreased 50% dewatering, probably due destruction flocs digestive process release attached microplastics, returned wastewater rejected water. Polyester polyethylene predominant types fibers particles, Given annual produced, 100 billion enter environment per year. sludge, therefore, an source emission especially fibers, warranting further evaluation associated environmental hazards.

Treatment of natural rubber industry wastewater through a combination of physicochemical and ozonation processes
In any type of rubber product manufacturing (including tires), the primary concerns are environmental. The aim of the present study was to survey a treatment combination of ozonation and physicochemical processes in the rubber industry. Wastewater samples were collected from the discharge unit of the rubber processing sewage system in Kerman Barez Tire Factory, Kerman, Iran. The wastewater samp...

Background: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) preferentially selects tRNALys,3 as the primer for reverse transcription. HIV-1 can be forced to select alternative tRNAs through mutation in the primer-binding site (PBS) and a region upstream of the PBS designated as the A-loop. Alteration of the PBS and A-loop to be complementary to the 3' terminal nucleotides and anticodon of tRNAHis results ...
متن کاملImpact of secondary treatment types and sludge handling processes on estrogen concentration in wastewater sludge.
Endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs), such as estrogen, are known to be present in the aquatic environment at concentrations that negatively affect fish and other wildlife. Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are major contributors of EDCs into the environment. EDCs are released via effluent discharge and land application of biosolids. Estrogen removal in WWTPs has been studied in the aqueous ...

15 صفحه اولPartitioning, persistence, and accumulation in digested sludge of the topical antiseptic triclocarban during wastewater treatment.
The topical antiseptic agent triclocarban (TCC) is a common additive in many antimicrobial household consumables, including soaps and other personal care products. Long-term usage of the mass-produced compound and a lack of understanding of its fate during sewage treatment motivated the present mass balance analysis conducted at a typical U.S. activated sludge wastewater treatment plant featuri...
