چکیده

Abstract In this study, the tribological properties of fused deposition modelling (FDM) 3D printed Polylactic Acid (PLA) is studied when it slides against a steel disk at various speeds. pins were using PRUSA MINI+ Printer according to recommended printing parameters. Pin on disc tests conducted normal load 20 N, sliding time minutes, and linear speeds 0.46, 0.58, 0.7 0.81 m/s . Experiment results showed that wear rate increases with increase speed, coefficient friction decreases in speed. Observation worn surfaces suggested major mechanisms are abrasion, adhesion, delamination. The difference behaviour was mainly caused by hardness-temperature relationship. main anomaly occurred observed trends pin melted highest resulting opposite trends. temperature contact point weakens PLA pins. Therefore, can be used temperature-controlled low speed application such as lubricated gear not for applications subjected high temperature.

Polylactic acid (PLA)

This website provides an excellent overview of PLA as a polymer, its properties, and manufacture. This web article describes the production of lactic acid from biomass by microbial fermentation coupled to a poly-merization process to make PLA. The article is a bit dated and its industrial projections are now seen to be a bit over-optimistic. NatureWorks is the company that started large-scale p...

Friction and wear behaviour of tool steels sliding against 22MnB5 steel

Boron steels are used in hot stamping process due to their good mechanical properties. During the stamping process, the dies are exposed to aggressive conditions including adhesive wear, abrasion, thermal stresses and fatigue. In the present work, QRO 90 and UNIMAX slid against 22MnB5 steel in four conditions: with and without hardening treatment and, with and without Al–10%Si coating, in order...

The Wear Behavior of Textured Steel Sliding against Polymers

Artificially fabricated surface textures can significantly improve the friction and wear resistance of a tribological contact. Recently, this surface texturing technique has been applied to polymer materials to improve their tribological performance. However, the wear behavior of textured tribo-pairs made of steel and polymer materials has been less thoroughly investigated and is not well under...

On a New Neovaginal Prosthesis of PLA (Polylactic Acid)

Vaginal dilation is proposed as the first choice treatment for patients with vaginal aplasia, but many patients with MRKH or Rokitansky syndrome (and cases with CAIS) may require a vaginoplasty. It is also necessary to make vaginoplasty in patients with vaginal or cervicovaginal atresia with a functional uterus before performing an utero-neovaginal anastomosis, also in trans-sexual men.

Sliding orientation effects on the tribological properties of polytetrafluoroethylene

The chemical inertness, high melting point, and intrinsic lubricity of polytetrafluoroethylene PTFE have been used to develop solid lubricating parts for operation in extreme environments, from frying pans to satellites. The atomic-level mechanisms associated with friction and wear at PTFE surfaces are elucidated here by systematic investigations of the frictional anisotropy measured with respe...
