Tunable Middle Ir Optical Parametric Oscillator for Spectroscopic Applications

The operation of a middle infrared laser source based on the tandem optical parametric oscillator (OPO) was demonstrated. The first stage was based on the nonlinear KTP crystal and produced up to 45 mJ of 1.57 μm radiation, while pumped by a commercial Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The quality of signal beam was improved by using the unstable resonator. The AgGaSe2 crystal was used in the second sta...

Widely tunable picosecond optical parametric oscillator using highly nonlinear fiber.

We demonstrated a fully fiber-integrated widely tunable picosecond optical parametric oscillator based on highly nonlinear fiber. The ring cavity with a 50 m highly nonlinear fiber was synchronously pumped with a picosecond mode-locked fiber laser. The tuning range was from 1413 to 1543 nm and from 1573 to 1695 nm, which was as wide as 250 nm. A high-quality pulse was generated with a pulse wid...

Squeezed states of light from an optical parametric oscillator

Squeezed states of the electromagnetic field are generated by degenerate parametric downconversion in a subthreshold optical parametric oscillator. Reductions in photocurrent noise greater than 60% (-4 dB) below the limit set by the vacuum fluctuations of the field are observed in a balanced homodyne detector. A quantitative comparison with theory suggests that the observed noise reductions res...

Partial Distinguishability in Femtosecond Optical Spontaneous Parametric Down-Conversion

Quantum interference is observed using femtosecond parametric down-conversion in the absence of spectral filtering of the down-converted light. The well-known symmetric dip observed in cw polarization-interferometry experiments becomes less pronounced and substantially asymmetric under such pulsed excitation. We show that this asymmetry arises from the partial distinguishability of contribution...

Seeded supercontinuum generation with optical parametric down-conversion.

The transition between modulation instability gain and induced soliton fission in nonlinear fiber is experimentally investigated by coherent seeding with the two-color output of an optical parametric oscillator. This approach produces supercontinuum spectra displaying persistent, fine modulation from seeding-induced noise reduction. Numerical simulations support the findings.
