Two-Phase Numerical Modelling of a Wet Exhaust System in a Catamaran Motor Yacht Diesel Engine

In this study, the multiphase temperature distributions and volume fractions through wet exhaust system were investigated as 3D by using comprehensive numerical model in a yacht diesel engine. For purpose, Volume of Fluid was selected model. Fuel exhausts are generally located underwater to ensure modern appearance minimize noise. To manage water pressure, gases, cooling flow distribution, scoop is positioned above catamaran exhaust. Besides, two types fluids have been used one which hot gas other nozzle. The design has created Ansys SpaceClaim sprayed from 60° tip Moreover, mesh simulation 1,405,113 elements 523,125 nodes average skewness 0.46, orthogonal quality 0.64. Realizable k-? turbulence simulations. According results, fully develops after time 1.5 seconds nozzle sprays along tube cools gases. Also, stagnation points occurring at elbow fitting striking when velocity contours vectors examined.
