Two-Tier Multi-Rate Slotted ALOHA for OWC/RF-Based IoT Networks

چکیده
We consider a massive Internet of Things (IoT) scenario where indoor IoT devices access the network via optical wireless communication (OWC) systems that relay data backhaul radio frequency (RF) low-power wide-area (LP WAN). propose novel two-tier multi-rate Slotted ALOHA (SA) system model to design and analyse such hybrid OWC/RF networks. For particular setup, we present an in-depth numerical investigation provides insights into proposed SA design.

User registration in broadband slotted Aloha networks
This paper proposes an algorithm for user terminals in broadband slotted Aloha networks to jointly succeed in time synchronization, power adjustment, and registration to the network control center. The performance is analyzed considering nonnegligible initial time uncertainty, nonnegligible power uncertainty, and minimizing cochannel interference as well as binary feedback from the central rece...
متن کاملMaximum Sum Rate of Slotted Aloha with Successive Interference Cancellation
This is a sequel of our previous work [8] on characterization of maximum sum rate of slotted Aloha networks. By extending the analysis to incorporate the capacity-achieving receiver structure, Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC), this paper aims to identify the rate loss due to random access. Specifically, two representative SIC receivers are considered, i.e, ordered SIC where packets ar...
متن کاملPerformance analysis of slotted ALOHA and network coding for single-relay multi-user wireless networks
Deployment of wireless relay nodes can enhance system capacity, extend wireless service coverage, and reduce energy consumption in wireless networks. Network coding enables us to mix two or more packets into a single coded packet at relay nodes and improve performances in wireless relay networks. In this paper, we succeed in developing analytical models of the throughput and delay on slotted AL...
متن کاملSlotted Aloha with multi-AP diversity and APS transmit beamforming
Slotted Aloha is an effective random access protocol and can also be an important element of more advanced media access protocols. This paper investigates slotted Aloha in a radio environment with multiple access points. Specifically, we examine the impact of multi-access-point (multi-AP) diversity on the performance of slotted Aloha. The paper considers both omni-directional (OM) and beamformi...
