چکیده
Abstract Ultra-diffuse galaxies (UDGs) are both extreme products of galaxy evolution and environments in which to test our understanding star formation. In this work, we contrast the spatially resolved formation activity a sample 22 H i -selected UDGs 35 low-mass from NASA Sloan Atlas (NSA) catalog within 120 Mpc. We employ new joint spectral energy distribution fitting method compute rate stellar mass surface density maps that leverage high spatial resolution optical imaging data Hyper Suprime-Cam Subaru Strategic Program UV coverage Galaxy Evolution Explorer, along with radial profiles estimated subset have maps. find low efficiencies as function their atomic gas down scales 500 pc. additionally mass-weighted sizes UDG unremarkable when considered mass—their comparable NSA dwarfs at fixed mass. Stellar populations in local star - forming galaxies . I . –
We present an analysis of the integrated properties of the stellar populations in the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) Survey of Hα-selected galaxies. In this paper, the first of a series, we describe in detail the techniques developed to model star-forming galaxies using a mixture of stellar populations, and taking into account the observational uncertainties. We assume a recent burst o...
متن کاملStar and Cluster Formation in Extreme Environments
Current empirical evidence on the star-formation processes in the extreme, highpressure environments induced by galaxy encounters (mostly based on highresolution Hubble Space Telescope observations) strongly suggests that star cluster formation is an important and perhaps even the dominant mode of star formation in such starburst events. The sizes, luminosities, and mass estimates of the young ...

متن کاملStar Formation in Isolated Disk Galaxies. I. Models and Star Formation Characteristics
We model star formation in a wide range of isolated disk galaxies composed of a dark matter halo and a disk of stars and isothermal gas, using a threedimensional smoothed particle hydrodynamics code. Absorbing sink particles are used to directly measure the mass of gravitationally collapsing gas. They reach masses characteristic of stellar clusters. In this paper, we describe our galaxy models ...
متن کاملStar Formation in Hi Selected Galaxies I: Sample Characteristics
A sample of 69 galaxies with radial velocities less than 2500 km s was selected from the Hi Parkes All Sky Survey (HiPASS) and imaged in broad band B and R and narrow band Hα to deduce details about star formation in nearby disk galaxies while avoiding surface brightness selection effects. The sample is dominated by late-type, dwarf disks (mostly Sc and Sm galaxies) with exponential disk scale ...
