Ultra-Fast Growth of ZnO Nanorods on Cotton Fabrics and Their Self-Cleaning and Physiological Comfort Properties

The main aim of the present study was to investigate effect microwave irradiation time on photocatalytic and physiological comfort characteristics zinc-oxide-nanorod-coated cotton fabrics. An ultra-fast technique employed grow zinc oxide nanorods fabrics using a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. axial (length) lateral (diameter) growth observed increase with time. ZnO uniformly entirely covered fibers. surface morphology, topography chemical were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), EDS analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force (AFM) inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). degradation orange II dye under UV light assess self-cleaning solution discoloration ability. ZnO-nanorod-coated exhibited excellent activity, as stains disappeared predominantly within 4 h coated became almost white after 6 h. Analyses thermal properties, water vapor permeability (WVP), air stiffness also performed conductivity absorptivity an in size density nanorods. Moreover, non-significant reductions application fabric increased due complete coverage fibers uniform showed good washing durability reusability.
