The ability to create real-time images of pulmonary function is highly desirable in many clinical situations. For example, information on air delivery vital for patients the intensive care unit (ICU) who are going through mechanical ventilation due respiratory failure. functional obtained from imaging can be used provide early warnings developing pathologies real time, reducing complications and improving patient outcomes. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) an system that has gone studies provides such information. EIT several drawbacks most important one its limited spatial resolution very low depth, which cannot avoided by adding more electrodes. Therefore, it possible introduce ultrasound (UST) as technique with potential nonionizing monitoring lung imaging. In contrast, UST show significant enhancement when transducers used. central region thorax detected enhanced area. this work, we developed a realistic geometry phantom focusing performances 3-D applications. Results validated using experimental thoracic phantoms representing use achieved detecting reconstructing changes sound velocity distribution resulting functions conditions.
