Long tunneling contact as a probe of fractional quantum Hall neutral edge modes
We study the tunneling current between edge states of quantum Hall liquids across a single long-contact region and predict a resonance at a bias voltage set by the scale of the edge velocity. For typical devices and edge velocities associated with charged modes, this resonance occurs outside the physically accessible bias domain. However, for edge states that are expected to support neutral mod...
متن کاملUnexpected neutral aza-macrocycle complexes of sodium.
Highly unusual Na(+) complexes with neutral tri- and tetra-amines are isolable in good yield from the reaction of NaBAr(F) with the amine in organic media. Structural characterisation reveals primary Na-N bonding, including an unusual sandwich cation [Na(Me3tacn)2](+), derived from homoleptic N6-coordination via two Me3-tacn ligands, and the distorted 5-coordinate [Na(thf)(Me4cyclam)](+).
متن کاملSingle-molecule electronics: Cooling individual vibrational modes by the tunneling current.
Electronic devices composed of single molecules constitute the ultimate limit in the continued downscaling of electronic components. A key challenge for single-molecule electronics is to control the temperature of these junctions. Controlling heating and cooling effects in individual vibrational modes can, in principle, be utilized to increase stability of single-molecule junctions under bias, ...
متن کاملSubmucosal tunneling techniques: current perspectives
Advances in endoscopic submucosal dissection include a submucosal tunneling technique, involving the introduction of tunnels into the submucosa. These tunnels permit safer offset entry into the peritoneal cavity for natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery. Technical advantages include the visual identification of the layers of the gut, blood vessels, and subepithelial tumors. The creati...
