Universal predictions for statistical nuclear correlations.

We explore the behavior of collective nuclear excitations under a multi-parameter deformation of the Hamiltonian. The Hamiltonian matrix elements have the form P (|Hij |) ∝ 1/ √ |Hij | exp(−|Hij|/V ), with a parametric correlation of the type log〈H(x)H(y)〉 ∝ −|x − y|. The studies are done in both the regular and chaotic regimes of the Hamiltonian. Model independent predictions for a wide variet...

Statistical correlations in nuclear many-body states

Statistical correlations of nuclear many-body states are explored in the Odls shell model as a function of the strength of residual interactions. Model independent predictions for correlation functions and distributions, developed from parametric random-matrix theory, are found to describe the observed nuclear behavior for excited states. In particular, we find that correlations generally decre...

Universal correlations for deterministic plus random Hamiltonians.

We consider the (smoothed) average correlation between the density of energy levels of a disordered system, in which the Hamiltonian is equal to the sum of a deterministic H0 and of a random potential φ. Remarkably, this correlation function may be explicitly determined in the limit of large matrices, for any unperturbed H0 and for a class of probability distribution P (φ) of the random potenti...

Grand Canonical Model Predictions For Nuclear Fragmentation

A very simple but very popular model for nuclear multifragmentation is this: the nucleus is heated up and breaks up into many pieces (composites and new produced particles if the energy is sufficient) strictly according to phase space. This occurs in an expanded volume, about three or four times the normal volume. Population strictly according to phase-space implies chemical and thermal equilib...

Quantum Statistical Correlations for Slowly Expanding Systems

Quantum statistical correlations and momentum distributions are calculated for a spherically symmetric, three-dimensionally expanding finite fireballs, for non-relativistic expansions applying plane-wave approximation. The new concepts of the geometrical temperature as well as the thermal radius are presented for the simplest case. The symmetry properties of the correlation function are shown t...
