چکیده
The paper gives experimental observations on the hypersonic flow past an axisymmetric flat-face cylinder with a protruding sharp-tip spike at freestream Mach number of $M_\infty = 8.16$ two different Reynolds numbers based base body diameter ($Re_D 0.76 \times 10^6$, and $3.05 10^6$). Furthermore, modal analysis is done schlieren images to understand dynamics parallel unsteady pressure measurements. length ratio $[l/D]=1$ creates familiar flowfield called 'pulsation.' Pressure loading fluctuation intensity $Re_D$ cases are calculated. A maximum drop 98.24\% observed in both parameters between high low ReD cases. Based analysis, difference pulsation characteristics noticed, which arise from vortical zones, each system `$\lambda$' shocks formed during `collapse' phase ahead body. interaction shedding vortices $\lambda$-shocks' triple-points, along rotating stationary waves, contributes asymmetric high-pressure observation shock cylinder. interactions form second dominant spatial mode temporal carrying dimensionless frequency ($f_2D/u_\infty \approx 0.34$) almost twice that fundamental ($f_1D/u_\infty 0.17$). frequencies invariant irrespective However, for high-frequency range, spectral decay follow inverse -7/3 law cases, respectively.

متن کاملNumerical Investigation on Contaminant Dispersion from a Source over the Blocks in Steady and Unsteady Flows
This paper deals with numerical study of semi-finite incompressible flow of air over two blocks with different heights in the presence of a condensing-source, dispensing- contaminant in the flow, in both steady and unsteady states. The numerical solution of governing PDE equations are constructed by a finite-volume method applied on structured grid arrangement. The effects of air flow velocity,...
متن کاملMULTI PHASE COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS MODELING OF CAVITATING FLOWS OVER AXISYMMETRIC HEAD-FORMS
In the present paper, partial cavitation over various head-forms was studied numerically to predict the shape of the cavity. Navier-Stokes equations in addition to an advection equation for vapor volume fraction were solved. Mass transfer between the phases was modeled by a sink term in vapor equation in the numerical analysis for different geometries in wide range of cavitation numbers. The r...
