UNVEILING COHERENCE: ANALYZING GRAMMATICAL DEVICES IN RECOUNT TEXT

The purpose of this study is to examine the grammatical cohesive devices used in recount text writing bilingual students. device crucial because it consists and lexical that contribute writing’s strength accuracy, as well its contextual understanding. Twenty ninth-grade students a junior high school participated study. students’ writings were main data research. qualitative descriptive method employed thoroughly assess describe its’ used. result shows able use cohesion their writing. revealed reference most dominated 68.42% second conjunction with 29.97%. Meanwhile, substitution showed low rank 1.61% last was ellipsis 0%. Furthermore, category, personal becomes highly at 85%, meanwhile additive category frequent one 46% nominal 50% device. It also found class can write using numbers even though there still some monotonous repetition he findings have pedagogical implicature need enhance knowledge understanding cohesiveness necessary for pertaining text’s coherence particularly ability.
