چکیده
Atherosclerosis is initiated by the activation of endothelial cells that allows monocyte adhesion and transmigration through vascular wall. The accumulation uremic toxins such as indoxyl sulphate (IS) p-cresol (PC) has been associated with atherosclerosis. Currently, miRNAs play a crucial role in regulation activation, adhesion, trans-endothelial migration. aim present study to evaluate effect IS PC on migration processes monocytes co-cultured well determine underlying mechanisms. incubation HUVECs THP-1 both resulted an increased migratory capacity cells. Furthermore, exposure upregulation BMP-2 miRNAs-126-3p, -146b-5p, -223-3p, nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) decrease its inhibitor IĸB. Uremic toxins, PC, enhance endothelium. These particularly contribute significantly uremia-associated disease increasing expression BMP-2, NF-κB, key development atherosclerotic diseases.

DNAM-1 and PVR Regulate Monocyte Migration through Endothelial Junctions
DNAX accessory molecule 1 (DNAM-1; CD226) is a transmembrane glycoprotein involved in T cell and natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity. We demonstrated recently that DNAM-1 triggers NK cell-mediated killing of tumor cells upon engagement by its two ligands, poliovirus receptor (PVR; CD155) and Nectin-2 (CD112). In the present paper, we show that PVR and Nectin-2 are expressed at cell junctions ...
متن کاملRadiation-induced expression of platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 in cerebral endothelial cells
Background: Radiation-induced molecular changes on the endothelial surface of brain arteriovenous malformations (AVM) may be used as markers for specific vascular targeting agents. In this study, we examined the level of expression of platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1) on brain endothelial cell surface after radiation treatment, with the aim of targeting the radiation-induc...
متن کاملActivated platelets induce monocyte chemotactic protein-1 secretion and surface expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 on endothelial cells.
BACKGROUND Platelet/endothelium interaction plays an important role in the pathophysiology of inflammation and atherosclerosis. The role of platelets for monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) secretion and surface expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) on endothelial cells has been assessed. METHODS AND RESULTS Monolayers of human umbilical vein endothelial cells were incub...
متن کاملMicroparticles from human atherosclerotic plaques promote endothelial ICAM-1-dependent monocyte adhesion and transendothelial migration.
RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVE Membrane-shed submicron microparticles (MPs) released following cell activation or apoptosis accumulate in atherosclerotic plaques, where they stimulate endothelial proliferation and neovessel formation. The aim of the study was to assess whether or not MPs isolated from human atherosclerotic plaques contribute to increased endothelial adhesion molecules expression and m...
متن کاملGlucose regulates monocyte adhesion through endothelial production of interleukin-8.
We have shown that glucose increases monocyte adhesion to human aortic endothelial cells (HAECs) in vitro.1 In the present study, we examined mechanisms by which glucose stimulates monocyte:endothelial interactions. HAECs cultured for 7 days in 25 mmol/L glucose had a 2-fold elevation in interleukin-8 (IL-8) secretion over control cells cultured in 5.5 mmol/L glucose (P<0.001). Use of a neutral...
