چکیده

The research has been conducted to test the asphalt produced in Latvia using local mineral materials and recycled modifiers (fiberglass, crumb rubber), as well used production of high-modulus mix, which will meet Latvian road construction specifications be economically, environmentally technically more attractive. In theoretical part, available sources were studied establish a framework, assess possibilities for materials, define concept fiberglass, consider its performance mixes. During experimental stage research, different mix formulas with glass fiber, crushed rubber, RAP, other additives stabilize mixtures surface base layers designed laboratory; they compared reference mixes tests. Then best results section high-intensity road. samples paved tested well. Two according road-building specifications, fiberglass reinforcement 0.15% + 30% RAP layer rubber 15% 30%+EVOFLEX CA© variable layer. aim is offer solutions reducing new pavement allowing use building. tests showed that fully meets requirements specifications.

Environmental Impacts of Producing Asphalt Mixtures with Varying Degrees of Recycled Asphalt Materials

The environmental impacts of producing asphalt mixtures with different percentages of asphalt binder replacement (ABR) are assessed using the technique of life cycle assessment (LCA). In this paper, only the material production phase of the pavement life cycle is considered. To improve the quality of the LCA, a regionalized life cycle inventory (LCI) database for the Northern Illinois region is...

Use of Recycled and Waste Fibers in Asphalt Concrete

A significant problem associated with asphalt concrete mixtures is the lack of durability resulting from an inadequate asphalt cement content. Additional asphalt cement added to increase durability results in flushing, bleeding and a significant loss In stability. Fibers have been used in stone matrix asphalt and open-graded friction course pavements successfully throughout Europe to allow high...

Microstructural Analysis and Rheological Modeling of Asphalt Mixtures Containing Recycled Asphalt Materials

The use of recycled materials in pavement construction has seen, over the years, a significant increase closely associated with substantial economic and environmental benefits. During the past decades, many transportation agencies have evaluated the effect of adding Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP), and, more recently, Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS) on the performance of asphalt pavement, whil...

Characterization of Hot Bituminous-Asphalt Mixtures with Recycled Polyurethane Foam

Received: June 06, 2017 Revised: July 05, 2017 Accepted: July 19, 2017 Abstract: Introduction: The use of polymer wastes in pavement as road is an increasing trend in the road construction sector. Those new pavements reduce the amount of solid waste disposed into landfills and provide more sustainable construction due to the use of in-situ materials. Polyurethane foam waste is a thermostable po...

Evaluation of the Mechanical Properties of the cement treated Cold-in-Place Recycled Asphalt Mixtures

Cold-in-place recycling (CIR) is an environmentally sustainable alternative for preservation of asphalt pavements. A major disadvantage of this practice is the lower strength of the cold-in-place mixtures. Addition of cement into this type of mixture is a method for increasing its bearing capacity. The effect of cement content on the mechanical properties of the cold-in-place recycled asphalt m...
