Using a combined bio-ecological and capability perspective to understand inclusive education in South Africa

Abstract Inclusive educational practices have been adopted worldwide to address inequalities endemic education systems. In South Africa, the process toward inclusion commenced in October 1996 and was realized 2001 with Education White Paper 6. However, implementation of Africa has marred by challenges. These challenges largely examined through an ecosystemic theoretical lens offering insight into contextual facing but does not adequately explore role that person involved their specific dispositions play enactment inclusion. This article argues that, better understand individuals face implementing inclusion, a broader integrating bio-ecological theory capability approach is needed. integration highlights need look at complexity issues what valued, as competing values, choices between these will influence
