Using Cosmological Perturbation Theory to Distinguish between GR and Unimodular Gravity

چکیده

Unimodular gravity is one of the oldest geometric theories and alternatives to general relativity. Essentially, it based on Einstein–Hilbert Lagrangian with an additional constraint determinant metric. It can be explicitly shown that unimodular recast as relativity in presence a cosmological constant. This fact has led many discussions equivalence both at classical quantum levels. Here, we present analysis focused scalar perturbations around background. We focus unusual situation which typical conservation laws are not adopted. The discussion extended case where non-minimal coupled field introduced. also gauge-invariant showing display instabilities. Our results reinforce verified completely perturbative level.

Hamiltonian cosmological perturbation theory with loop quantum gravity corrections

Cosmological perturbation equations are derived systematically in a canonical scheme based on Ashtekar variables. A comparison with the covariant derivation and various subtleties in the calculation and choice of gauges are pointed out. Nevertheless, the treatment is more systematic when correction terms of canonical quantum gravity are to be included. This is done throughout the paper for one ...

The quantization of unimodular gravity and the cosmological constant problems

A quantization of unimodular gravity is described, which results in a quantum effective action which is also unimodular, ie a function of a metric with fixed determinant. A consequence is that contributions to the energy momentum tensor of the form of gabC , where C is a spacetime constant, whether classical or quantum, are not sources of curvature in the equations of motion derived from the qu...

Cosmological Perturbation Theory Using the Schrödinger Equation

We introduce the theory of non-linear cosmological perturbations using the correspondence limit of the Schrödinger equation. The resulting formalism is equivalent to using the collisionless Boltzman (or Vlasov) equations which remain valid during the whole evolution, even after shell crossing. Other formulations of perturbation theory explicitly break down at shell crossing, e.g. Eulerean pertu...

Cosmological Perturbation Theory

This is a review on cosmological perturbation theory. After an introduction, it presents the problem of gauge transformation. Gauge invariant variables are introduced and the Einstein and conservation equations are written in terms of these variables. Some examples, especially perfect fluids and scalar fields are presented in detail. The generation of perturbations during inflation is studied. ...

cosmological density fluctuations and gravity waves: a covariant approach to gauge-invariant non-linear perturbation theory

We present a new approach to gauge-invariant cosmological perturbations at second order, which is also covariant. We examine two cases in particular for a dust Friedman-Lemâıtre-RobertsonWalker model of any curvature: we investigate gravity waves generated from clustering matter, that is, induced tensor modes from scalar modes; and we discuss the generation of density fluctuations induced by gr...
