Validation of the Generalized Workplace Harassment Questionnaire for Use with Medical Students

The Generalized Workplace Harassment Questionnaire (GWHQ) has not been validated among medical students whilst they are on clinical placements. Therefore, this study aims to validate its use when applied cohort. A sample of 205 in their training phase completed the GWHQ. To examine validity proposed factor structure 25-item GWHQ, which was reduced from original 29-item set, a confirmatory analysis conducted. Model fit appraised by evaluating comparative index (CFI), root mean square error approximation (RMSEA), and standardized squared residual (SRMR). Spearman’s rho correlation coefficients were correlations between factors. With exclusion Item 19, resulting improved. In revised model for 24-item CFI = 0.995, RMSEA 0.047, SRMR 0.115. Overall, met criteria two indices thus deemed be acceptable. Factor loadings ranged 0.49 0.96. coefficient Verbal Covert Hostility high, although all with Physical weak. conclusion, amended version GWHQ is valid instrument appraising instances harassment or hostility within placements attended New Zealand.
