The 4f^6 systems were hypothesized to possess non-magnetic (J = 0) ground state. However, all such have distinctly shown the presence of non-zero effective moment. In this context, a rare earth orthovanadate EuVO4, which in spite having J 0 state, magnetic Our studies reveal three different regions compound, boundaries are demarcated from susceptibility data. high temperature exhibits linear dependence on arises due tetragonal crystal field, followed by independent plateau like region, ascribed Van Vleck paramagnetism. At low temperatures, Curie-Weiss behaviour is observed, arise Eu2+ moments and results analysis reveals that separation ({\lambda}) between 1 states decreases increasing external field leads an enhanced moment at higher fields.
