Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Introduction Speckle tracking echocardiography is an upcoming modality to quantify left atrial function. Left function disturbed in many disease and systolic strain (LASr) has already been associated with the prognosis fibrillation degree diastolic dysfunction. Some modifying parameters have identified relatively small studies. Purpose We aim assess influence known some unknown biometric sonographic on LASr values a large cohort. Methods This prospective cohort study included 211 individuals assessed general LASr. Patients had normal ejection fraction (≥50%), reasonable image quality frame rate ≥50FPS no significant valvular heart disease. The collected were ventricular fraction, global longitudinal (GLS) volume Index (LAVI). analysis was done offline by semiautomatic contour detection R-R gating used. Results Mean 35.5 ± 11%. There differences for age, (GLS), (LAVI) vendor (GE versus Philips). significantly lower oldest groups (60–69jr 70–84jr) decreasing progression LAVI. when Philips used compared GE. Gender not change Conclusion shows ageing, LAVI, GLS values. difference probably due between two vendors

Evaluation of the Relationship between Circadian Blood Pressure Variation and Left Atrial Function Using Strain Imaging
BACKGROUND Non-dippers were reported as showing different left atrial function, compared to dippers, but no study to date investigated the changes in the left atrial function according to the diurnal blood pressure pattern, using tissue Doppler and strain imaging. METHODS Forty never treated hypertensive patients between 30 and 80 years of age were enrolled in this study. Patients were classi...

into the pathogenesis of heart disease in patients treated for HIV infection. Lipodystrophy can indeed lead to ectopic spillover of triglyceride into nonadipose tissues—including the myocardium—and has previously been associated with adverse LV remodeling (2). Furthermore, that HAART exposure also predicted myocardial triglyceride content and LV dysfunction provides further insight into the pat...
