Variations in uniform hazard spectra and disaggregated scenarios during earthquake sequences

چکیده
Abstract Seismic hazard varies greatly during an earthquake sequence. Understanding this variation can be useful to end-users, such as emergency managers, it would enable them make more informed decisions about potential risk reduction measures. This article presents examples of how two commonly-used products probabilistic seismic assessments: uniform spectra and disaggregated scenarios, vary severe sequences in western Greece. These calculations are made using a recent time-dependent model based on Bayesian ETAS approach. The show that for short return periods (1 10 years) significantly higher than standard time-independent but the 475 2475 years similar those from assessments. generally converge within couple days spectra. also dominant scenarios evidenced by disaggregation assessment significant differences scenarios. is particularly true when sequence distant location interest aftershocks contribute overall hazard. To these changes clearly introduces new graphical representation results: contour maps showing magnitude or distance scenario with axes structural period response spectral acceleration.

Seismic Hazard Analysis and Obtaining Uniform Hazard Spectra for Esfahan Region, Iran
The present study was conducted to determine peak ground acceleration (PGA) over bedrock in probabilistic analysis methods for the seismic hazard and uniform hazard spectra at different hazard levels for Esfahan city. A series of statistics containing historical and instrumental seismic data covering from the 8th century A.D. to the now up to a radius of 200 km was employed and seismic sources ...

متن کاملHazard Mitigation for Earthquake and Subsequent Fire
This paper is a progress report of a MCEER research project on the development of multihazard protection technologies for critical facilities. One important component is to consider earthquake and earthquake induced hazards (e.g. fire, haz-mat leakage, power outrage, etc). This paper is concerned with earthquake and subsequent fire hazards. Records from historical earthquakes show that sometime...
متن کاملMagnitude-Recurrence Relationship and its Effect on Uniform Hazard Spectra: A Current Assessment
Gutenberg and Richter showed that magnitude-recurrence relationship may be represented by a linear relationship when the log of annual rate of exceedance was plotted against magnitude. This type of recurrence model has been in use because of its simplicity and because it fits the data reasonably well over a useful range of magnitudes of engineering interest. A quadratic log frequency relationsh...
متن کاملpatterns and variations in native and non-native interlanguage pragmatic rating: effects of rater training, intercultural proficiency, and self-assessment
although there are studies on pragmatic assessment, to date, literature has been almost silent about native and non-native english raters’ criteria for the assessment of efl learners’ pragmatic performance. focusing on this topic, this study pursued four purposes. the first one was to find criteria for rating the speech acts of apology and refusal in l2 by native and non-native english teachers...
