Village ecosystem vulnerability in karst desertification control: evidence from South China Karst

چکیده
Against the background of global environmental changes and intensification human activity, village ecosystem faces enormous challenges. In particular, rural areas in South China Karst face serious problems, such as karst desertification human–land conflicts. recent decades, Chinese government scientific researchers have committed to controlling desertification. However, ecosystems context control (KDC) remain fragile. To promote sustainable development villages KDC, this study considered different cases. Based on model susceptibility-exposure-lack resilience, we constructed an index system vulnerability research, used entropy method determine weight, introduced a contribution clarify level driving factors recommend related governance strategies. We found that (1) levels under KDC were different. Village mildly vulnerable none-potential areas, moderately potential-mild highly moderate–severe areas. (2) The combined effects natural environment activity led Karst. Among them, topography, climate, forest coverage, landscape pattern, soil erosion, desertification, economic level, production living are main affecting Karst, differences these lead ecosystems. (3) designed adaptive strategies for based influencing characteristics with primary goal development. They provide decision-making basis promoting KDC.

Quantitative Evaluation of Ecosystem Health in a Karst Area of South China
The purpose of this study is to propose a GIS-based mechanism for diagnosing karst rocky desertification (KRD) ecosystem health. Using the Huajiang Demonstration Area in Guizhou Province as a case study, this research offers a multi-factor indicator system for diagnosing KRD ecosystem health. A set of geologic, environmental, and socio-economic health indicators were developed based on remote s...
متن کاملFactors Affecting Public-Supply Well Vulnerability in Two Karst Aquifers
Karst aquifers occur in a range of climatic and geologic settings. Nonetheless, they are commonly characterized by their vulnerability to water-quality impairment. Two karst aquifers, the Edwards aquifer in south-central Texas and the Upper Floridan aquifer in western Florida, were investigated to assess factors that control the movement of contaminants to public-supply wells (PSWs). The geoche...
متن کاملExtraction of Karst Rocky Desertification Information from Eo-1 Hyperion Data
Karst rocky desertification is a special kind of land desertification developed under violent human impacts on the vulnerable ecogeo-environment in karst ecosystem. The process of karst rocky desertification results in simultaneous and complex variations of many interrelated soil, rock and vegetation biophysical parameters, rendering it difficult to develop simple and robust remote sensing mapp...
متن کاملCorrection: Organic Carbon Storage in Four Ecosystem Types in the Karst Region of Southwestern China
Karst ecosystems are important landscape types that cover about 12% of the world's land area. The role of karst ecosystems in the global carbon cycle remains unclear, due to the lack of an appropriate method for determining the thickness of the solum, a representative sampling of the soil and data of organic carbon stocks at the ecosystem level. The karst region in southwestern China is the lar...
متن کاملVulnerability of the karst area related to potentially toxic elements
Soil samples from 31 locations in the Una river spring catchment were subject to chemical extraction analyses. The data were presented as distribution maps of potentially toxic elements (Al, Cu, Mn, Pb and Zn) in the surface soil of the area. To evaluate the vulnerability of the immediate spring zone of the karst catchment, the vulnerability map was derived from the application of the PI method...
