چکیده

Background: The early detection and treatment of osteoporosis can help prevent osteoporosis-related fractures, especially in patients who undergo enhanced computed tomography (CT) scans for disease diagnosis or evaluation outcomes. Although Hounsfield unit (HU) measurement the vertebral body has been shown to have a strong positive correlation with bone mineral density (BMD), contrast media will impact CT value decrease accuracy. This study is aimed examine distinctions attenuation on true unenhanced (TUE) virtual (VUE) images generated from triphasic dual-energy (DECT) determine feasibility assessing BMD detecting VUE as compared quantitative (QCT).

Clinical applications of virtual, non-contrast head images derived from dual-source, dual-energy cerebrovascular computed tomography angiography

Background: This study set out to evaluate the utility of cerebrovascular virtual non-contrast (VNC) scans. Materials and Methods: Conventional non-contrast (CNC) and dual-energy computed tomography angiography (DE-CTA) head scans were conducted on 100 subjects, of which 46 were normal, 15 had parenchymal hematomas of the brain, 13 had ischemic infarction, 22 had tumors, and 4 had calcified les...

Comparison of Singh index accuracy and dual energy X-ray absorptiometry bone mineral density measurement for evaluating osteoporosis

Background: The Singh index is an inexpensive simple method to evaluate bone density, commonly used to assess osteoporosis is based on the radiological appearance of the trabecular bone structure of the proximal femur on a plain antero-posterior (AP) radiograph. The purpose of this study was to compare between Singh index and bone mineral density measurement using dual energy X-ray abs...

Bone-composition imaging using coherent-scatter computed tomography: assessing bone health beyond bone mineral density.

Quantitative analysis of bone composition is necessary for the accurate diagnosis and monitoring of metabolic bone diseases. Accurate assessment of the bone mineralization state is the first requirement for a comprehensive analysis. In diagnostic imaging, x-ray coherent scatter depends upon the molecular structure of tissues. Coherent-scatter computed tomography (CSCT) exploits this feature to ...
