Virtue Signaling: Problematizing Creative Labor Within Knowledge Socialism

This article argues that current scholarship inappropriately utilizes ‘virtue signaling’ to elicit a subjectivist form of de-valorized creative labor within knowledge socialism as philosophy praxis. Moreover, it institutionalized higher education (HE) contexts, should be reoriented toward the promotion prosocial-entrepreneurial ‘transitional ecosystems’ commons-based peer production (CBPP). sociomaterialist repositioning will outline path forward for which better understands, elicits, and valorizes inherently contributions precariously positioned academics contemporary HE. In order accomplish this aim, first underlines several fundamental concepts (commons-based production, collective intelligence, labor) before moving on more pointed philosophical discussion critique these underlying assumptions socialism. Lastly, provides an operaismo-based reflexive inquiry into interplay between theory experienced in practice China HE context, contributing development non-exploitative cultures CBPP processes.
