Perturbation of a prehension movement in Parkinson's disease.
Movement kinematics of the transport and manipulation components of a double-step prehension task were studied in eight Parkinson patients and eight control subjects. The aims were to (a) assess the effects of a spatial perturbation upon the movement for the two groups and (b) add data to the controversy about the damage/preservation of predictive behaviour in Parkinson patients. The results sh...
متن کاملTongue-surface movement patterns during speech and swallowing.
The tongue has been frequently characterized as being composed of several functionally independent articulators. The question of functional regionality within the tongue was examined by quantifying the strength of coupling among four different tongue locations across a large number of consonantal contexts and participants. Tongue behavior during swallowing was also described. Vertical displacem...
متن کاملMovement of the cell surface and change in surface area during cleavage in the newt's egg.
In cleaving eggs of the newt, Cynops pyrrhogaster, the behaviour of the egg surface was analysed by observing linear and area changes in a transplanted piece of cortex which differed in pigmentation from the background. Results from the animal hemisphere showed that the surface in the cleavage plane shrank extensively in the region where the early cleavage furrow was being formed. On both sides...

متن کاملReconstructing a Visible Surface
We address the problem of reconstructing the visible surface in stereoscopic vision. We point out the need for viewpoint invariance in the reconstruction scheme and demonstrate the undesirable "wobble" effect that can occur when such invariance is lacking. The design of an invariant scheme is discussed.
