Vortex Laser Based on a Plasmonic Ring Cavity

The orbital angular momentum (OAM) of the structure light is viewed as a candidate for enhancing capacity information processing. Microring has advantages in realizing compact lasers required on-chip applications. However, clockwise and counterclockwise whispering gallery modes (WGM) appear simultaneously, emitted from normal microring does not possess net OAM. Here, we propose an OAM laser based on standing-wave WGMs containing WGM components. Due to inhomogeneous intensity distribution WGM, single-mode lasing can be realized. Besides, designed demand. principle properties proposed are demonstrated by numerical simulations. This work paves way exploring plasmonic at microscale, which served basic building block optical devices.
