چکیده
This paper presents optimal transient design as a two-step optimization problem - identification and mitigation of the worst-case in water distribution system. In first step, particle swarm was used to identify set critical nodes that result loading condition. second dual-objective determine pipe sizes simultaneously minimize cost likelihood damaging events, measured by parameter named surge damage potential factor. Nondominated sorting genetic algorithms were combined with analysis produce Paretooptimal solutions search space The New York tunnel system tested case results show not always obvious cannot be assumed priori. Therefore, comprehensive systematic is required network. It also confirmed consideration phase, conjunction conventional least-cost size optimization, will help utilities yield tangible savings along improvement performance.

Water distribution system modeling and optimization: a case study
In the last years, the scientific literature has reported an increasing use of hydraulic models to describe water distribution systems (WDS). Hydraulic models represent tools for managing the complexity of WDSs, and a number of optimization methods have been proposed to improve the performance of these infrastructures. However, because of the lack of available data on WDSs many works have only ...
متن کاملA HYBRID CHARGED SYSTEM SEARCH - FIREFLY ALGORITHM FOR OPTIMIZATION OF WATER DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS
Water distribution networks are one of the important and costly infrastructures of cities and many meta-heuristic algorithms in standard or hybrid forms were used for optimizing water distribution networks. These algorithms require a large amount of computational cost. Therefore, the converging speed of algorithms toward the optimization goal is as important as the goal itself. In this paper, a...

متن کاملParticle Swarm Optimization for Hydraulic Analysis of Water Distribution Systems
The analysis of flow in water-distribution networks with several pumps by the Content Model may be turned into a non-convex optimization uncertain problem with multiple solutions. Newton-based methods such as GGA are not able to capture a global optimum in these situations. On the other hand, evolutionary methods designed to use the population of individuals may find a global solution even for ...
متن کاملAccounting for Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm Optimization of Water Distribution Systems
Considerable research has been carried out on the optimization of water distribution systems (WDSs) over the last three decades. In previous research, attention has mainly focused on the minimization of cost, due to the high expenditure associated with the construction and maintenance of such systems. However, the impacts of WDSs on the environment usually have not been considered adequately. T...
