Weld morphology, microstructure evolution, and mechanical properties of laser beam welding of wire arc additive manufactured Al-Cu substrate

Laser welding is a feasible process for joining the additive manufactured (AMed) parts to meet manufacturing demand of specific large-scale components. Microstructure and property evolution as well weldability laser wire arc (WAAMed) Al-Cu alloy are investigated. Results indicate that WAAMed has excellent joint nearly free defect. The width heat-affected-zone (HAZ) equiaxed crystal zone (EQZ) grain size fusion (FZ) will increase with higher power heat input. 3500 W highest tensile strength elongation, reaching 203.48 MPa 4.13%. result from electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) test indicates texture intensity affect properties. elongation welded WAAM sample perpendicular deposition direction than parallel direction. microhardness value HAZ FZ BM due 163 HV. feasibility samples validated, parameters found hybrid
