What makes a complex a virtual resolution?

چکیده

Virtual resolutions are homological representations of finitely generated Pic ( X stretchy="false">) \text {Pic}(X) -graded modules over the Cox ring a smooth projective toric variety. In this paper, we identify two algebraic conditions that characterize when chain complex graded free is virtual resolution. We then turn our attention to saturation Fitting ideals by irrelevant ideal and prove some results mirror classical theory for Noetherian rings.

What makes cities complex ?

Schrödinger’s view of life and his suggestion that “Organization is maintained by extracting 'order' from the environment” in fact anticipated the notion of order out of chaos that has become the motto of complexity theory. And indeed, three decades later, in December 8, 1977, Ilia Prigogine (1977) in his Nobel lecture demonstrated that in certain circumstances matter too behave as if it has li...

What makes virtual agents believable?

In this paper we investigate the concept of believability and make an attempt to isolate individual characteristics (features) that contribute to making virtual characters believable. As the result of this investigation we have produced a formalisation of believability and basedon this formalisationbuilt a computational framework focused on simulation of believable virtual agents that possess t...

What Makes a Revolution

Although property rights are the cornerstone of capitalist economies, throughout history existing claims have been frequently overturned and redefined by revolution. A fundamental question for economists is what makes revolutions more likely to occur. A large literature has found contradictory evidence for the effect of income and income inequality on revolt, possibly due to omitted variable bi...

What makes a life good?

Two studies examined folk concepts of the good life. Samples of college students (N = 104) and community adults (N = 264) were shown a career survey ostensibly completed by a person rating his or her occupation. After reading the survey, participants judged the desirability and moral goodness of the respondent's life, as a function of the amount of happiness, meaning in life, and wealth experie...
