When do households make vehicle transactions? What type of vehicle households choose after transaction events?

This study presents a biographical approach to modeling households’ vehicle ownership states and type choice, using data from retrospective survey. Over lifetime, households purchase their first by terminating no-car state, subsequently re-evaluate decision of changing fleet size multiple transactions that cause termination transient states. evaluates determinants the probability state exclusively examining effects life-cycle events long-term life-stage transitions random parameter accelerated hazard-based framework. It also investigates choice first-time owners logit technique. Vehicle attributes, are found be strong predictors both choices. Results this will assist policy makers develop longer-term interventions required support sustainable transportation systems.
