Investment in light-rail transit (LRT) has been one of the main strategies large metropolitan areas last decade to tackle environmental, economic, and social issues. In Montreal, Canada, a C$7 billion LRT system is currently under construction expected significantly affect mobility patterns across region. It crucial identify how impacts such public investments vary societal groups assess whether distribution benefits fair equitable. Using data from an online survey binary logistic modeling approach, we investigated ways which intentions use this new differ gender identities. First, found that women are less likely than men have intention LRT. Our results show there statistically significant differences identities effect certain sociodemographic travel-behavior characteristics explain system. respect trip purpose, while intend for work trips same extent, leisure discretionary travel more women. findings can help guiding further research into gaps transport studies inform practitioners on be considered policy decisions so major public-transit equitably distributed.
