Wideband multibeam mushroom antenna array with low‐temperature cofired ceramic‐integrated pillbox transition for millimetre‐wave applications

This article presents a millimetre-wave (MMW) wideband multibeam antenna array with pillbox transition using multilayer low-temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) technology. The mushroom structure dual resonant modes offers performance for radiating array, while an integrated reflector achieves scheme. To reduce the design complexity of electrically large system, two popular transitions are investigated unit model method. proposed can be used to predict transmission in any incident angle. Moreover, and power divider fed by quasi-TEM wave also designed model, greatly simplifying array. In final design, long-slot transition, rather than multi-slot is selected due its ultrawideband simple structure. LTCC prototype analysed fabricated, obtaining good agreement between simulation measurement. measured results show −10 dB impedance bandwidth 17.6% from 31 37 GHz, five beams ±45° scanning range achieved sidelobe level lower dB.
