چکیده

praise background in arabic poetry reaches the age of ignorance; but praise poetry in persian, has started from the third century hijri to imitation of arabic prosody. in motenabbi and hafez’s period of life, eulogy has become abundantly widespread, and a lot of poets have been writing a lot of panegyric. the place and position of praise in motenabbi and hafez’s divan has significant differences with each other. while about 90% of the eulogy in  otenabbi’s divan is dedicated to the praise, only 7% of hafez’s divan is allocated to eulogy. these two poets are also contradictory with each other in style and method of eulogy. motenabbi has praised approximately 50 people while the praised people by hafez are half of that number.
