conclusions the clinical klebsiella strains isolated from lahore region, pakistan exhibited resistance to most commonly used antibiotics, which can be a serious threat to public health. the study reported some potential actinomycetes strains, which exhibit promising activity against multidrug resistant klebsiella strains. results the isolated klebsiella strains showed resistance against most of the antibiotics as follows; ceftriaxone > cephalexin > cefpirome > cefoxitin = cefepime > levofloxacin > ciprofloxacin = ceftrazidime = fusidum > cefoperazone > ampicillin sulbactam. the actinomycetes strain a19, a20, a2, a10, a6 and a8 exhibited remarkable activity against resistant klebsiella strains. the strains a19 and 20 showed excellent inhibitory effects on all isolated multidrug resistant klebsiella strains. materials and methods the isolated klebsiella strains were identified by morphological, biochemical and physiological characterization along with 16s rrna gene sequencing. antibiotics susceptibility was determined by standard kirby bauer disc diffusion assay. the biological and chemical screening was performed for detection of active secondary metabolites produced by actinomycetes against resistant klebsiella strains. biological screenings include antimicrobial activity by agar diffusion assay and brine shrimp microwell cytotoxicity assay. in chemical screening, the crude extracts of actinomycetes strains were analysed by tlc and hplc-uv techniques. background multidrug resistance among different pathogens is increasing immensely day by day. to control these problems, we need new potent antimicrobial agents in repository of antibiotics. objectives this study aimed at investigation of antibiotics resistance pattern of pathogenic klebsiella strains isolated from clinical samples in lahore region pakistan and study inhibition of resistant strains by natural extracts obtained from actinomycetes isolated from different ecological niches in pakistan.

Discrimination of Dominant H. pylori Strains Isolated from Patients with Different Gastroduodenal Pathologies by Protein Profiling

It is not clear what factors determine divergent outcomes of infections caused by H. pylori . In the present study, the protein profiles of different strains of H. pylori, isolated from three groups of patients with ulcerative disease, non-ulcerative gastritis and cancer disease, were analyzed using 1DSDS-PAGE. The patterns of different H. pylori strains were highly divergent. About 30.76% (7 b...

Prevalence of Plasmid-Mediated Quinolones Resistance among Klebsiella pneumoniae Strains Isolated from Hospitals in Borujerd, Iran

ABSTRACT        Background and Objective: Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most common causes of bacterial infections. Presence of plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance genes causes low level of resistance in K. pneumoniae. This study investigated the prevalence of resistance to quinolones and fluoroquinolones, and the frequency of qnrA, qnrB and qnrS genes amo...

Plasmid- mediated cefotaxime and ceftizoximd resistance in Ten strains of klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from hospitals in Kerman,Iran

Klebsiella pneumonia is a gram negative bacillus of which it's resistant strains are a common source of nosocomial infections . The goal of this study is determination of drug sensitivity of these resistant strains, and study of causes involved in the resistant especially the presence of plasmid. Ten different strains of klebsiella pneumoniae were isolated from clinical specimens collected from...

Investigation of the resistance of Acinetobactor baumanii strains isolated from Tehran’s hospital inpatients in terms of selected antibiotics

Background and Objective: The presence of the resistant bacteria in different wards of hospitals and problems which are thereby made by these organisms in treating patients specify the necessity to identify this type of bacteria and their antibiotic resistance pattern. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the resistance related to 60 samples of the isolated Acintobacter bauman...
