WLRP: A Resource Reservation Protocol for Quality of Service in Next-Generation Wireless Networks

QoS guarantees for wireless mobile applications require advance resource allocation. In this paper, we propose a signaling protocol for resource allocation in wireless environments, based on RSVP. It addresses the issue of scalability in RSVP by ensuring lower per-connection state storage and lesser control messaging. It provides wireless applications parameters such as loss negotiability, loss profile, and hand-over quality besides bandwidth and jitter to express their QoS demands with greater granularity. The simulation results show a significant improvement in the application QoS.
