چکیده

The strength of public-key cryptography depends on the degree of difficulty of a private key to be determined from its corresponding public key. Such a Key can be generated from computationally high radix arithmetic operations like modular exponentiation with very large integer values. To perform this modular exponentiation, different multiplication algorithms like Montgomery algorithm, Karatsuba algorithm, VLM3 algorithm are used. In this Paper, those algorithms results are analyzed and their performance towards measure of algorithm complexity, critical path delay, area, time period and frequency are compared. Keyword: High-speed and high-radix arithmetic; Modular exponentiation and multiplication; Montgomery algorithm; Karatsuba algorithm; VLM3 algorithm.

Custom Fpga Cryptographic Blocks for Reconfigurable Embedded Nios Processor

This paper introduces two custom blocks for Nios reconfigurable embedded processor implemented on Altera Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). When operations like modular multiplication and modular exponentiation of long integers or other complex algebraic functions are performed on a general-purpose processor they usually consume a lot of processor resources and execution times are not sati...

Fast Montgomery Modular Multiplication and RSA Cryptographic Processor Architectures

New, generic silicon architectures for implementing Montgomery’s multiplication algorithm are presented. These use Carry Save Adders (CSAs) to perform the large word length additions required by this algorithm when used for RSA encryption and decryption. It is shown that using a four-to-two CSA with two extra registers rather than a five-to-two CSA leads to a useful reduction in the critical pa...

Algorithm Exploration for Long Integer Modular Arithmetic on a SPARC V8 Processor with Cryptography Extensions

In recent years, public-key cryptography has emerged to become an important workload for embedded processors, driven by a number of factors such as the need for securing wireless communication. The computational requirements of public-key cryptosystems are often beyond the modest capabilities of embedded processors, which motivated the development of architectural enhancements and instruction s...

Are coarse grain reconfigurable architectures suitable for cryptography?

Cryptographic algorithms are increasingly used in personal transaction through Internet network, smart card and telecommunication applications. Those algorithms are well known for their high complexity data computing. This paper focuses on Montgomery algorithm, which computes modular multiplication efficiently. This operation is the most time consuming part of public-key cryptosystems. A compar...

Highly-Parallel Montgomery Multiplication for Multi-Core General-Purpose Microprocessors

Popular public key algorithms such as RSA and Di e-Hellman key exchange, and more advanced cryptographic schemes such as Paillier's and Damgård-Jurik's algorithms (with applications in private information retrieval), require e cient modular multiplication with large integers of size at least 1024 bits. Montgomery multiplication algorithm has proven successful for modular multiplication of large...
