Abstract P32. The Split Pectoralis Flap: Combining the Benefits of Advancement and Turnover Techniques in Sternal Wound Reconstruction

چکیده
Suday, M arch 6, 2017 CONCLUSION: Calcaneal reconstruction is possible with free fibula bone and must be considered as an alternative to amputation. A double-barrel design with careful attention to orienting the fibula to closely resemble the anatomy of the weight-bearing posterior portion of the calcaneum allows for reconstruction of larger defects, creates a physiologic weight-bearing bone with excellent results. It is a useful alternative to limb loss.

Bilateral pectoralis advancement flaps and transverse plate fixation system for sternal reconstruction in the complicated sternal wound
Methods Between 2008 and 2012, 24 patients with a complicated sternal wound underwent a sternal reconstruction with bilateral pectoralis advancement flaps and a transverse plate fixation system. The median age of the cohort (4 female and 20 males), was 65.8 years (range: 33-83 years). In 19 patients, a bilateral internal thoracic artery had been used. Considerable preoperative risk factors were...

OBJECTIVE This study aims to report the use of the unilateral pectoralis major muscle flap for the treatment of the sternal wound dehiscence. METHODS A retrospective study including patients who underwent unilateral pectoralis major muscle flap was performed for the treatment of sternotomy dehiscence due to coronary artery bypass, valve replacement, congenital heart disease correction and med...
متن کاملSecondary omental and pectoralis major double flap reconstruction following aggressive sternectomy for deep sternal wound infections after cardiac surgery
BACKGROUND Deep sternal wound infection after cardiac surgery carries high morbidity and mortality. Our strategy for deep sternal wound infection is aggressive strenal debridement followed by vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) therapy and omental-muscle flap reconstrucion. We describe this strategy and examine the outcome and long-term quality of life (QOL) it achieves. METHODS We retrospectively ...
متن کاملRisk Factors for Complications after Reconstructive Surgery for Sternal Wound Infection
BACKGROUND Although the utility of flaps for the treatment of sternal wound infections following median sternotomy has been reported for 30 years, there have been few reports on the risk factors for complications after reconstruction. The objective of this investigation was to identify factors related to complications after the reconstruction of sternal wound infections. METHODS A retrospecti...
