چکیده

We present SGDPLL(T ), an algorithm that solves (among many other problems) probabilistic inference modulo theories, that is, inference problems over probabilistic models defined via a logic theory provided as a parameter (currently, propositional, equalities on discrete sorts, and inequalities, more specifically difference arithmetic, on bounded integers). While many solutions to probabilistic inference over logic representations have been proposed, SGDPLL(T ) is simultaneously (1) lifted, (2) exact and (3) modulo theories, that is, parameterized by a background logic theory. This offers a foundation for extending it to rich logic languages such as data structures and relational data. By lifted, we mean algorithms with constant complexity in the domain size (the number of values that variables can take). We also detail a solver for summations with difference arithmetic and show experimental results from a scenario in which SGDPLL(T ) is much faster than a state-ofthe-art probabilistic solver.

Exact Inference for Relational Graphical Models with Interpreted Functions: Lifted Probabilistic Inference Modulo Theories

Probabilistic Inference Modulo Theories (PIMT) is a recent framework that expands exact inference on graphical models to use richer languages that include arithmetic, equalities, and inequalities on both integers and real numbers. In this paper, we expand PIMT to a lifted version that also processes random functions and relations. This enhancement is achieved by adapting Inversion, a method fro...

Weighted Positive Binary Decision Diagrams for Exact Probabilistic Inference

Recent work on weighted model counting has been very successfully applied to the problem of probabilistic inference in Bayesian networks. The probability distribution is encoded into a Boolean normal form and compiled to a target language, in order to represent local structure expressed among conditional probabilities more efficiently. We show that further improvements are possible, by exploiti...

Weighted Model Integration with Orthogonal Transformations

Weighted model counting and integration (WMC/WMI) are natural problems to which we can reduce many probabilistic inference tasks, e.g., in Bayesian networks, Markov networks, and probabilistic programs. Typically, we are given a first-order formula, where each satisfying assignment is associated with a weight—e.g., a probability of occurrence—and our goal is to compute the total weight of the f...

Satisfaction Meets Expectations - Computing Expected Values of Probabilistic Hybrid Systems with SMT

Stochastic satisfiability modulo theories (SSMT), which is an extension of satisfiability modulo theories with randomized quantification, has successfully been used as a symbolic technique for computing reachability probabilities in probabilistic hybrid systems. Motivated by the fact that several industrial applications call for quantitative measures that go beyond mere reachability probabiliti...

Integrating Theories into Inference Systems

The axiomatization of arithmetical properties in theorem proving creates many straightforward inference steps. In analyzing mathematical proofs with the CERES (Cut-Elimination by Resolution) system, it is convenient to hide these inferences. The central topic of the thesis is the extension of the CERES method to allow reasoning modulo equational theories. For this, the inference systems of Sequ...
