JOURNAL REVIEW: TRANSPORT PHENOMENA AND FLUID MECHANICS Transport and Deposition Patterns in Drying Sessile Droplets
نویسنده
چکیده
The literature on drying sessile droplets and deposition of suspended material is reviewed including the simple explanation of the “coffee ring” deposit given by Deegan et al. Analytical and numerical solutions for the flow are given, including the effect of Marangoni stresses, pinning or movement of the contact line, and viscous, thermal, gravitational, and other effects. The solution space is explored using dimensionless groups governing mass, momentum, and heat transfer effects in the droplet, external gas, and substrate. The most common types of deposition patterns are summarized, including those produced by pinned contact lines, sticking-and-slipping contact lines, and Marangoni effects. The influence of contact-line deposits is also reviewed, and the effects of colloidal, polymeric, and other depositing materials. Advanced applications from ink-jet printing to disease diagnosis are discussed as well. The review helps readers take stock of what has been learned and what remains incompletely explained. Three-dimensional modeling of transport phenomena in a planar anode-supported solid oxide fuel cell
In this article three dimensional modeling of a planar solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) was investigated. The main objective was to attain the optimized cell operation. SOFC operation simulation involves a large number of parameters, complicated equations, (mostly partial differential equations), and a sophisticated simulation technique; hence, a finite element method (FEM) multiphysics approach ...

Simultaneous effects of slip and heat transfer on peristaltic transport of an incompressible electrically conducting viscous fluid in an asymmetric channel is studied under the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynold number .The asymmetry is produced by choosing the peristaltic wave train on the walls to have different amplitudes and phase.Exect solutions for stream function, velocity ...
متن کاملCalculation of Heat Transfer Coefficient of MWCNT-TiO2 Nanofluid in Plate Heat Exchanger
The objective of the present study is the synthesis of MWCNT-TiO2 hybrid nanostructures by solvothermal synthesis method with TiCl4 as precursor. The heat transfer enhancement due to the use of MWCNT-TiO2 nanofluid was investigated. As-prepared hybrid materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that MWCNTs were uniformly dec...
متن کاملInfluence of Nanoparticles Phenomena on the Peristaltic Flow of Pseudoplastic Fluid in an Inclined Asymmetric Channel with Different Wave Forms
The influence of nanofluid with different wave forms in the presence of inclined asymmetric channel on peristaltic transport of a pseudoplastic fluid is examined. The governing equations for two dimensional and two directional flows of a pseudoplastic fluid along with nanofluid are modeled and then simplified under the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximation. The ex...
متن کاملComputational analysis of non-spherical particle transport and deposition in shear flow with application to lung aerosol dynamics--a review.
All naturally occurring and most man-made solid particles are nonspherical. Examples include air-pollutants in the nano- to micro-meter range as well as blood constituents, drug particles, and industrial fluid-particle streams. Focusing on the modeling and simulation of inhaled aerosols, theories for both spherical and nonspherical particles are reviewed to analyze the contrasting transport and...
