Dynamic Contrast Enhanced T1-weighted Perfusion MRI for Measuring Cerebral Perfusion Increase after Visual Stimulation

چکیده
Introduction: Being able to measure cerebral perfusion and cerebral blood volume quantitatively is of great importance when it comes to diagnosing and treating various cerebrovascular diseases and other brain disorders. In a clinical setting, MR perfusion imaging is normally performed using dynamic susceptibility contrast imaging. When it comes to absolute quantification, this method has several weaknesses, including susceptibility artefacts and difficulties in obtaining good arterial input functions. A former study has shown that absolute values for cerebral perfusion can be obtained using dynamic contrast enhanced imaging with a T1weighted sequence (1).

Quantification of blood-brain-barrier permeability dysregulation and inflammatory activity in MS lesions by dynamic-contrast enhanced MR imaging
Objective: Measurement of blood-brain permeability dysfunction in active and chronic MS lesions with T1-weighted dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI to show variation in inflammatory activity Background: blood-brain-barrier perfusion characterization impaired in MS as some studies have shown recently buta comparison between perfusion parameters in contrast-enhanced and non-enhanced lesions not have ...
متن کاملDynamic Contrast-Enhanced T1 -Weighted Perfusion MRI differentiates Tumor Recurrence from Radiation Necrosis: relative Cerebral Blood Volume Measurements and FDG-PET Validation
INTRODUCTION: Magnetic resonance imaging plays an important role in the detection and evaluation of brain tumors. Conventional contrast-enhanced MRI delineates areas of blood brain barrier (BBB) leakage, but is less reliable in assessing tumor grade and distinguishing radiation-induced necrosis (RN) from tumor recurrence. The gold standard for distinguishing RN from tumor recurrence is F fluoro...
متن کاملProlonged Post-ischemic Hyperperfusion: a Systematic Multimodal MRI Study
INTRODUCTION Regional hyperperfusion after stroke (1, 2) is a frequent, yet poorly understood, phenomenon. It is unclear whether hyperperfusion harms or helps tissue survival. Prolonged, up to 7 days post-occlusion, hyperperfusion has been noticed in animal stroke model (3). In this study, we systematically investigate the hyperperfusion phenomenon in a 30-min transient middle-cerebral artery o...
متن کاملEffect of iron oxide nanoparticles coating type on the relationship between nanoparticles concentration and signal intensity in inver-sion recovery T1-weighted MRI
Background: Ultrasmallsuperparamagnetic iron oxide (USPIO) nanoparticles are used as blood pool contrast agent for magnetic resonance angiography and perfusion imaging. Our aim in this study was to investigate the effect of the two coating types of iron oxide nanoparticles on the relationship between nanoparticles concentration and signal intensity (SI) in T1-weighted MR images. Methods : D...
متن کاملValue of Semi-Quantitative Analysis of Dynamic Contrast-enhanced MRI for Diagnosing Staging of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma, and Comparison with PET-CT
Introduction: Dynamic Contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) consists of a series of rapid T1-weighted imaging (seconds per scan; tens of scans) performed before, during, and after the administration of an intravenous contrast agent that reduces the T1 value of blood and thereby enhances the signal intensity. It has become a useful tool to study the perfusion, permeability and angiogenesis property in...
