چکیده

A digital power amplifier provides a direct conversion of a digital signal into the analogue domain where the signal has the capability to drive a high-power load such as a loudspeaker. Figure 1 shows the basic outline of such a system. The first stage performs interpolation of a Nyquist rate PCM (pulse coded modulation) signal to produce an oversampled PCM digital signal. This signal is then fed into a modulation circuit. The modulation is typically sigma delta (Σ-∆) or pulse width modulation (PWM) and thus produces a final signal that has only two voltage levels. The key aim of the modulation is to produce a signal where the information of the PCM signal value is represented by the mean-value of the bitstream. This allows the original signal information to be extracted by a simple analogue lowpass filter. This filter is typically constructed from passive components like inductors and capacitors. Figure 2 shows how the mean value can be represented by digital pulses.

Performance Scrutiny of Two Control Schemes Based on DSM and HB in Active Power Filter

This paper presents a comparative analysis between two current control strategies, constant source power and generalized Fryze current, used in Active Power Filter (APF) applications having three different modulation methods. The Hysteresis Band (HB) and first-order Delta-Sigma Modulation (DSM) as well as the second-order DSM is applied. The power section of the active power filter is viewed as...

A Simple Signal Shaper for GMSK/GFSK and MSK Modulator Based on Sigma-Delta Look-up Table

Due to wide power spectrums of rectangular data streams, it is important for base-band signals to be heavily band limited before modulation. That can be achieved by pulse shaping of rectangular bits. Some of the most common are a half-sine pulse shaper and a Gaussian pulse shaper which are used in Minimum Shift Keying (MSK), Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) and Gaussian Frequency Shift Keyi...

An all-digital PWM-based ΔΣ ADC with an inherently matched multi-bit quantizer

An all-digital PWM-based delta-sigma (ΔΣ) ADC is proposed. This system takes advantages of the duration of a pulse, rather than voltage or current, as the analog operand used in its closed-loop operation. Unlike VCO-based ADCs, this ADC as a linear input sampling stage with adequate uncalibrated performance. Furthermore, the architecture allows inherently matched multi-bit quantizer/DAC blocks ...

A Fast and Efficient On-Line Harmonics Elimination Pulse Width Modulation for Voltage Source Inverter Using Polynomials Curve Fittings

The paper proposes an algorithm to calculate the switching angles using harmonic elimination PWM (HEPWM) scheme for voltage source inverter. The algorithm is based on curve fittings of a certain polynomials functions. The resulting equations require only the addition and multiplication processes; therefore, it can be implemented efficiently on a microprocessor. An extensive angle error analysis...

Decrease in Hardware Consumption and Quantization Noise of Digital Delta-Sigma Modulators and Implementation by VHDL

A new structure is presented for digital delta-sigma modulator (DDSM). Novel architecture decreases hardware consumption, output quantization noise and spurs in Comparison to previous architectures. In order to reduce the delay, power consumption and increase maximum working frequency, the pipelining technique and the carry skip adder are used. Simulation proposed architecture shows that the qu...
