چکیده

In this paper, we address the problem of performance evaluation (PE) of video scene detection algorithms. An objective and comprehensive protocol for performance evaluation and comparison of different scene detection algorithms is proposed. Unlike traditional precision-recall measures, the proposed PE measures treat false alarms unequally, and take the extent of incorrectness of the wrongly detected scene boundaries into consideration, which can generate more accurate and more reasonable PE results. The protocol has been applied not only on comparing different scene detection algorithms but also on determining the most appropriate thresholds for a given scene detection algorithm.

Compressed Domain Scene Change Detection Based on Transform Units Distribution in High Efficiency Video Coding Standard

Scene change detection plays an important role in a number of video applications, including video indexing, searching, browsing, semantic features extraction, and, in general, pre-processing and post-processing operations. Several scene change detection methods have been proposed in different coding standards. Most of them use fixed thresholds for the similarity metrics to determine if there wa...

Comparative Evaluation of Moving Shadow Detection Algorithms

Moving shadows need careful consideration in the development of robust dynamic scene analysis systems. Moving shadow detection is critical for accurate object detection in video streams, since shadow points are often misclassified as object points causing errors in segmentation and tracking. Many algorithms have been proposed in the literature that deal with shadows. However, a comparative eval...

Impact of linear dimensionality reduction methods on the performance of anomaly detection algorithms in hyperspectral images

Anomaly Detection (AD) has recently become an important application of hyperspectral images analysis. The goal of these algorithms is to find the objects in the image scene which are anomalous in comparison to their surrounding background. One way to improve the performance and runtime of these algorithms is to use Dimensionality Reduction (DR) techniques. This paper evaluates the effect of thr...

Scene-Consistent Detection of Feature Points in Video Sequences

Detection of feature points in images is an important preprocessing stage for many algorithms in Computer Vision. We address the problem of detection of feature points in video sequences of 3D scenes, which could be mainly used for obtaining scene correspondence. The main feature we use is the zero crossing of the intensity gradient argument. We analytically show that this local feature corresp...
